The Casselman Vikings showed no mercy this past week, racking up two decisive wins for a five-win streak.
They first crushed the Embrun Panthers 9–2 on Thursday, October 16, then overpowering the Carleton Place Jr. Canadians 8–2 on Saturday, October 18.
The game began with two goals from Alexis Lafrance, with the help of Skyler Beks and Tristan Simoneau, and Casey Hayward, with the help of Matheu CLoutier and Tristan Webb, before the Panthers tied the game with two if their own goals.
The second period saw no goals. The Vikings exploded offensively in the third period, scoring seven unanswered goals by Marc-Olivier McCarthy, with the help of Webb, Lafrance, with the help of Beks and Simoneau, Joshua Marcos, with the help of Jacob Bellavance and McCarthy, Cloutier, with the help of Webb and Owen Mann, McCarthy, with the help of Jeremy Bessette and Kaleb Fogarty, Beks, with the help of Lafrance and Simoneau, and finally by Wayward, with the help of Cloutier and Bessette, to turn a close 2–2 game into a 9–2 blowout over the Panthers.
Goaltender Émile Pagé was steady between the goal posts, turning away 10 out of 12 shots, as Casselman outshot Embrun 42 to 12.
Casselman wins 8 – 2 against Carleton Place
Two days later, on Saturday, October 18, the Vikings carried that same energy into Carleton Place, where they dominated from start to finish in an 8–2 victory.
The first period saw once again two goals for the Vikings by Téo Webb, with the help of Thomas Ranger, and Mann, with the help of Bellavance and McCarthy.
During the second period, they scored three more goals by Hayward, Lafrance, with the help of Taige Soneji and Simoneau, Cloutier, with the help of Tristan Webb and Hayward, before the Jr Canadians scored their first goal. The Vikings marked another one by McCarthy, with the help of Simoneau and Téo Webb, before the Jr Canadians scored another goal.
The third period saw two more goals by Fogarty, with the help of McCarthy and Bessette, and Soneji, with the help of Lafrance and Sébastien Labrèche.
Casselman peppered the Jr. Canadians with 58 shots, while the Vikings’ goalie, Myles Boudreau stopped 21 out of 23 shots.
With these two commanding victories, the Vikings aim to extend their win streak when they go against the Perth Blue Wings on Thursday, October 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the J.R. Brisson Complex.
