The Nation is applying to the UCPR's regional community investment fund for $10,000 to allow free walking track access for all residents.

Funding for free access to the Nation track

The Nation Municipality is seeking financial support from the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) Regional Community Investment Fund (RCIF) to provide free access to the walking and running track for residents of The Nation Sports Complex.

Mayor Francis Brière plans to apply for up to $10,000 in funding from the 2024 RCIF. If the application is successful, residents of The Nation and the surrounding area will be able to use the track free of charge, promoting physical activity and improving the health of the community.

The motion presented to the municipal council emphasizes that the municipality considers the walking and running track to be a valuable asset for residents wishing to exercise regularly. By removing financial barriers, the municipality hopes to encourage greater participation, thereby contributing to the general well-being of the community.

The RCIF, created by the UCPR, aims to support local projects that improve community infrastructure and promote public health initiatives throughout the region. Each municipality receives $50,000 annually to fund such projects.

If funding is granted, free access to the track will be available for the year, in line with the municipality’s objective of promoting a healthier lifestyle for its residents.
