Thirty-seven mass vaccine clinics across Casselman, Hawkesbury, Rockland, Cornwall, Alexandria and Winchester have been scheduled until April 9, with more expected to be determined in the coming days. At the time of publication, there were vacancies only at an April 7 clinic in Hawkesbury and Alexandria on April 1 and 8. <\/p>\n

The clinics were available to residents aged 75 and older. The provincial government extended the clinics those aged 70 and over on Monday in some health units, but the change was yet to be implemented in the EOHU. A vaccination rollout at pharmacies, which started in Toronto, Kingston, and Windsor-Essex, had also yet to be announced for the region. <\/p>\n

Residents trying to book appointments on the provincial government\u2019s website last week experienced problems last week, with not all of the available clinics appearing on the site. The issue was similar to a problem residents had experienced the previous week. EOHU Medical Officer of Health Dr. Paul Roumeliotis said the issue had been resolved by Wednesday night. <\/p>\n

“We had submitted 37 clinics and not all of them appeared,\u201d he said. \u201cWe do have room and we do have vaccine for you.\u201d  <\/p>\n

Dr. Roumeliotis said the United Counties of Prescott and Russell had helped organize transport to the vaccine clinics for those unable to reach the sites on their own. \u201cPop-up\u201d clinics would also be planned in the future at other locations throughout the region, including Alfred-Plantagenet and Embrun. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
