Members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid impaired driving charges against two individuals following separate incidents in Russell Township.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first incident occurred on Sunday, May 10, at approximately 10:20 p.m., when officers responded to a fail-to-remain collision at a residence in Russell Township.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to police, a complainant reported that a parked vehicle in his driveway had been struck by another vehicle, which fled the scene immediately afterward. Officers observed damage to the rear bumper of the parked vehicle, along with debris left behind at the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A short time later, police located a suspect vehicle matching the description provided by the complainant. Officers conducted a traffic stop and observed damage consistent with the reported collision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the investigation, a 26-year-old from Embrun was charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams and failing to stop after an accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in L\u2019Orignal on June 17, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police also suspended the individual\u2019s driver\u2019s licence for 90 days, and the vehicle involved was impounded as part of the investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second incident took place on Sunday, May 17, at approximately 6:40 p.m., after officers received reports of a vehicle swerving and travelling in the middle of the roadway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police located the vehicle shortly afterward and initiated an investigation. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) test was administered at the scene, which the driver failed. The individual was then transported to the police detachment for further testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result of the investigation, 44-year-old from Sherbrooke, Quebec, was charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in L\u2019Orignal on June 24, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police also imposed a 90-day driver\u2019s licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
