A joint investigation led by the Ottawa Police Service (OPS), with assistance from the Brockville Police Service,\u00a0and the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), has resulted in the arrest of an Ottawa-area man in connection with an armed robbery and break-and-enter that occurred in late 2024 in The Nation Township.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Police say the incident took place on December 23, 2024, when officers from the Russell County OPP responded to a report of a robbery and break-and-enter at a residence on Limoges Road. Through the investigation, police\u00a0determined\u00a0that a suspect entered the home while armed with a handgun and committed a robbery inside the dwelling.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Following what authorities described as an extensive multi-jurisdictional investigation, police arrested a 26-year-old man from Ottawa. The accused is now facing Criminal Code charges across multiple\u00a0jurisdictions\u00a0related to a series of alleged offences.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Charges stemming from the incident in The Nation Township include break and enter a dwelling house with intent, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence (robbery), possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, and robbery using a firearm.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Police confirmed that the accused\u00a0remains\u00a0in custody and is awaiting a court appearance. As with all cases before the courts, the allegations have not been proven, and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Investigators are continuing to encourage members of the public to come forward with any information that may\u00a0assist\u00a0ongoing or future investigations. Anyone with information about criminal activity who wishes to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). Tipsters may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Police are also reminding residents of the importance of community involvement in crime prevention. Residents are encouraged to register their security camera information and locations through CAMSafe.ca, a voluntary program designed to help police\u00a0identify\u00a0potential video evidence during investigations and improve overall community safety.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
