With a win and a loss this week, the Casselman Vikings sit in third place in the Martin Division.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The Vikings lost their first game against the Richmond Royals on Thursday, October 10, but bounced back with a win against the Carleton Place Canadians on Saturday, October 12.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Thursday, the Royals took control of the game early, scoring two unanswered goals in the first period on power plays.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

David V\u00e9zina got the Vikings on the board for the first and only time in the second period, less than two minutes in, assisted by Ben Rochon and Nicolas \u00c9lie. Another power play, however, allowed the Royals to widen the gap between the two teams.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The third period was completely dominated by the Royals, who added two more goals. Brand Reinisch of the Royals completed his hat trick in the final 30 seconds of the game, once again on a power play.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vikings Bounce Back Against the Junior Canadians<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vincent Bastien quickly gave the Vikings the lead with a goal in the first two minutes of the game (Mathieu Cloutier, Skyler Beds).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Powerplays continued to trouble the Vikings, as the Junior Canadians equalized with the only goal of the second period.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hugo Gagn\u00e9 (Cloutier, Marc-Olivier McCarthy) and Jacob Knickle (Nicolas \u00c9lie) gave the Vikings a comfortable lead midway through the third period, but the Junior Canadians didn\u2019t give up, scoring twice\u2014once with just six seconds left in regulation\u2014to force the game into overtime.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, the Vikings ultimately took the points thanks to a goal from Nicolas \u00c9lie, three minutes into overtime.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Vikings will be back on the ice at the J.R. Brisson Complex on Thursday, October 17, at 7:30 p.m. against the Glengarry Brigade, followed by a game against the Embrun Panthers the next day.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
