The Township of Russell is launching a new “Walk and Talk” event where residents can schedule appointments with Mayor Pierre Leroux to speak about matters that concern them. The walks will take place inside the Sportsdome to avoid inclement weather and cold, and the mayor plans to schedule four walks a week for the foreseeable future, each lasting half an hour.

Leroux said that the goal of this new program is community engagement.

“I have always been available for residents, this is simply a more structured program,” he said. “I schedule ‘appointments’ based on a first come first serve basis, and if something occurs on either side, we can always reschedule a walk.”
