Positive tickets to highlight the youth’s commitment in Russell

The Municipality of Russell is continuing its initiative to recognize positive actions by young people by issuing “positive tickets” to those who stand out for their kindness and community involvement.

Implemented by Public Safety and Enforcement Officers, this program aims to encourage kind behaviour among young people in the region. Each positive ticket comes with a gift card provided by a local business to reward these inspiring actions.

During the month of March, two young people from Embrun were honored for their contribution to the community. Nicolas Lafrenière and Liviah Khan took the initiative to walk through their neighbourhood collecting litter, thereby contributing to clean streets and the well-being of their community. Their gesture was hailed as a concrete example of civic engagement.

The municipality invites residents to report youth aged 16 and under who perform positive acts or demonstrate acts of kindness. Reports can be submitted to the Public Safety and Enforcement Department.

The program also receives support from several community partners and local businesses, including the Kin Club, the Legion, Giant Tiger, McDonald’s, and Tim Hortons, which contribute by providing prizes.

Through this initiative, the Municipality of Russell aims not only to recognize young people who are making a difference, but also to foster a culture of solidarity and civic mindedness within the community.
