Navan man charged after cannabis and vaping products seized in Embrun

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Navan man after officers seized cannabis and numerous vaping products during an investigation in Embrun.

Members of the Russell County OPP Detachment were conducting proactive patrols in Embrun on September 30 at approximately 1 a.m. when officers noticed a pickup truck parked in front of a closed business with its engine running.

Police approached the vehicle and found the driver asleep in the driver’s seat, with the engine running and the keys in the ignition. During the interaction, officers observed several boxes of suspected illicit THC vaping products and nicotine vaping products in plain view inside the vehicle.

According to the OPP, the driver matched the description of an individual identified through several complaints concerning the alleged sale of vaping products and cannabis-related products to youth in the community. That information formed part of an ongoing investigation.

The driver was arrested, and a subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 47 nicotine vaping devices, 15 tins of nicotine pouches, 246 loose nicotine pods, 90 packaged nicotine pods, 24.5 grams of THC oil and nine additional vaping devices.

As a result of the investigation, Mohamad-Noh Bouragba of Navan was charged under the Cannabis Act with possession of illicit cannabis.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The OPP is asking anyone with information regarding the sale or distribution of illicit cannabis, tobacco or vaping products to contact police at 1-888-310-1122. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or through its website.
