CDSBEO trustees approve budget

The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario has its budget ready for the next term.

Trustees approved the 2026-2027 budget during the June 16 meeting of the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario (CDSBEO). The new budget is expected to cover overall expenses to cover a projected four-per-cent increase in the total number of students at all CDSBEO schools during the next school year.

“Many thanks to you and your team for all of the hard work that was done to bring this budget forward,” stated CDSBEO Chair Christopher Cummings, to board members and administration staff.

Next year the district’s student population increases by 201, for a projected total of 14,290 students enrolled at CDSBEO elementary and secondary schools throughout the district.

The 2026-2027 budget of $230 million for overall operations meets the provincial demand for balanced budgets for school districts. The CDSBEO board also approved a $16.8 million capital works budget plan to deal with various improvements planned next year for CDSBEO facilities.

The CDSBEO budget also includes expense allowances for staffing increases for the next school year. The district will hire the full-time-equivalent of 14 new staff, including educational assistants, early childhood educators, and teachers dedicated to literacy and numeracy needs of students.
