Russell OPP seek public’s help to identify gas theft suspect in Embrun

The Russell County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a theft and assault incident at a gas station in Embrun and is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect.

Police responded to a call at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Nov. 14 regarding the theft of gas. Employees told officers that when they attempted to confront the suspect, he intentionally drove his vehicle toward them.

This marks the fourth reported gas theft involving the same individual in the past two weeks.

The suspect is described as an older Caucasian man with grey hair and glasses, wearing a black jacket, jeans, and brown boots. The vehicle involved is a silver Dodge Caravan with no front plate, large dents on the passenger side, and an Ontario dealer plate with the number 093 DSV. The plate had been reported missing to the Ministry of Transportation.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or additional details about the incident is asked to contact the Russell County OPP at 613-443-4499 or the OPP Communication Centre at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, where tipsters may qualify for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
