Altercation at W.E. Burton Park prompts OPP investigation

An incident at W.E. Burton Park in Russell Township late Saturday night has prompted an investigation by the Russell County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). 

On June 28, 2025, at approximately 10:42 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a report of an altercation at the park. Paramedics from the United Counties of Prescott and Russell also attended the scene. 

According to police, a large group of youths and young adults had gathered in the park for a party when an altercation broke out between two individuals. One person sustained injuries that required transportation to hospital. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed. 

The OPP Crime Unit is actively investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Russell County OPP at 613-443-4499 or the OPP Communication Centre at 1-888-310-1122 and reference occurrence number E250844467. Detective Constable Tremblay is leading the investigation.
