The Russell Community Concert Band will present its year-end concert on Thursday, May 14, at 7 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School in Russell.
The concert will also serve as a delayed celebration of the ensemble’s 15th anniversary, described by organizers as a “15 + 2” anniversary after postponements in recent years.
Founded in 2009, the Russell Community Concert Band is a charitable organization whose primary goal is to promote musicianship and the enjoyment of music throughout Russell and the surrounding communities.
This year’s concert will feature approximately 36 musicians on stage, including eight former members returning to perform as part of the anniversary celebration.
The evening’s theme, “A Tribute to Movie Music,” will highlight well-known cinematic pieces performed by the community ensemble.
Admission to the concert is free, although donations to support the orchestra will be accepted.
