Members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a The Nation municipality resident following an impaired driving investigation.
According to police, officers were conducting a RIDE checkpoint on Wednesday, April 29, at approximately 12:15 a.m. when they stopped a vehicle for investigation. During the interaction, officers used an Approved Screening Device (ASD), and the driver reportedly failed the roadside test.
Police said the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, 39-year-old Alexandre Lacelle of The Nation has been charged under the Criminal Code with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams.
The accused also received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and the vehicle involved was impounded for seven days.
Alexandre Lacelle is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on June 10, 2026.
