Two Embrun residents charged after stabbing in Picton

Two people from Embrun are facing multiple charges following a serious assault with a weapon in Picton, Ontario, on Friday, October 24, night.

At approximately 11:15 p.m. on Friday, officers with the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of an assault outside a convenience store on Paul Street.

A 35-year-old man was found with very serious but non-life-threatening stab wounds and was transported to a regional trauma centre, where he continues to receive treatment. During the investigation, officers recovered multiple weapons at the scene.

With assistance from the Tyendinaga Police Service, officers arrested two suspects shortly after the incident.

Zachary Larrivee, 20, and Gavin Lafrance, 19, both from Embrun, have each been charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, obstructing justice, and Larrivee is also charged with attempted murder.

Both accused remain in custody and were scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

The investigation remains ongoing, with members of the Prince Edward County OPP, the County Crime Unit, and the OPP Forensic Identification Services continuing to gather evidence.
