A section of Highway 417 near Casselman has fully reopened after being closed for several hours on Wednesday due to a serious collision.
According to the East Region Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the crash occurred westbound between Principale Street and Limoges Road. The incident initially forced the closure of all westbound lanes as emergency crews responded.
One person was airlifted to hospital following the collision. At first, the extent of their injuries was unknown, but police later confirmed the individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The closure caused significant traffic delays in the area as cleanup and recovery work continued through the early afternoon.
At approximately 2:03 p.m. the same day, police announced that the highway had fully reopened in both directions, restoring normal traffic flow.
The OPP is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
