The South Nation Conservation Authority (SNC) and Russell Township are working together on a plan to reduce the risk of erosion in the East York Creek Municipal Drain area. The site is located in the Renoir Drive neighbourhood in the Village of Embrun.

The treeplanting site is about 1.57 hectares in size. The site already shows some erosion following removal of trees for a pedestrian bridge project. Replacing the trees will help prevent the risk of further erosion as the roots of the new trees help anchor the soil and allow other plants to take root and further stabilize the soil.

Cost of the treeplanting work is estimated at $20,000. Work in the area should be done by the end of September or early October and will involve planting more than 100 native trees and shrubs.
