Embrun Resident Charged with Impaired Driving

Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid multiple charges on an Embrun resident after they were stopped on Highway 417.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on May 25, officers received a complaint of a possible impaired driver travelling Westbound on Highway 417, near Rockdale Road.

The vehicle was located by officers and failed to stop for police at first. The driver was registered to be travelling more than twice the legal limit.

Claude Lecomte, 64, was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus, careless driving, and fail to stop for police.

Lecomte received a 90-day driving suspension and their vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

The accused was released and is set to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa at a later date.

The OPP thanks members of the public that continue to call in impaired drivers.
